A program by Mindset Cyber Pty Ltd
Built by a cyber-security professional. For his own kids first.
Kookabytes is the cyber-safety program that Australian primary-aged kids ask to do again. Made by people who spend their working lives on the other side of the scam.

The founder
Clinton McKillop
Founder, Mindset Cyber Pty Ltd. 20+ years in cyber, parent of primary-aged kids.
I’ve spent twenty years on the working side of cyber-security — MSPs, enterprise IT, audits in regulated industries. I’ve sat across from organisations on their worst day. I’ve watched smart adults fall for the same handful of scams over and over.
Then I looked at what my own kids were being taught at primary school about the digital world they were already living in — and there was almost nothing. A worksheet. An assembly. Nothing that would change what they’d actually do when a popup appeared, or a stranger asked their name in a Roblox lobby, or a friend pressured them for a passcode.
Kookabytes is what I built for my own kids first. It’s a story-then-game format kids ask for, mapped to the Australian curriculum and the eSafety Commissioner’s framework so schools can use it too. The threats are real. The cast is loveable. The kids learn the reflexes that adults wish they’d been taught at the same age.
Non-negotiables
What we won’t compromise on
Four lines we hold — the ones that decide what gets built and what gets cut.
Real threats, not abstract digital citizenship.
Every episode is built around a specific scam, scenario or pressure that Australian kids actually face right now — gift-card scams, AI-voice impersonation, screenshot leaks. Not generic “be safe online”.
Don't collect what you don't need.
We never collect emails, surnames, or birthdays from kids. Picture-password login removes the data and the headaches. Built by someone who audits this stuff for a living.
If a kid can't read it, they shouldn't have to.
Five-year-olds don't read instructions. Every choice is voiced. Every reflex is taught through a feeling, an action, or a character — never a worksheet.
Australian-made, Sydney-hosted.
Built in Australia, hosted in Sydney, mapped to ACARA and the eSafety Commissioner's Best Practice Framework. Not a US re-skin pretending to be local.
